Meridian Village Skilled Nursing – Glen Carbon, Illinois

Grubbs & Associates served as architect of record for a new skilled nursing facility at Lutheran Senior Services’ Meridian Village Campus.  The two-story facility was the first Skilled Nursing Facility in Illinois to employ the “household” design model.  In this model, each household has its own kitchen where food is prepared in a residential type setting, and its own living and activity spaces.  The Skilled Nursing Facility at Meridian Village has three households, each with fourteen residents, the majority of whom live in private units.  Nurse areas are designed to be as non-obtrusive as possible, which helps residents feel more “at home.”  The facility also features a large physical therapy area that will serve residents of the three households as well as residents from other parts of the CCRC.
